Flagstaff Cultural Partners

Greetings!

I love autumn. Leaves changing, cool breezes at night and morning, the feeling of preparing for a more intense season.  And for art and culture in Flagstaff, autumn might be the best season of all.

Not only do we have the Festival of Science right now, but we also have the Flagstaff Symphony back in action, the Flagstaff Mountain Film Festival, a ton of programs at NAU, and the Orpheum Theatre back at full speed.  Good times!

For our autumn offerings at Flagstaff Cultural Partners, first we are pleased to announce nominations have opened for the 2nd Annual Viola Awards.  Please participate by nominating someone.  See just below this message for more information.

We also have the Grand Canyon Guitar Society concert series underway now - with their best lineup in years.  And Stories to Life returns October 11! Plus two other great October concerts: Frank Rosaly's Milkwork, and Grammy-nominated duo, the Ditty Bops.  All this, plus the Navajo Rug Auction on October 17.  I hope you can join us for all the fun!

Cheers,

John Tannous "JT"

The FCP Staff Top Five: "Hot Now" Artists

Ceramics by Jason BohnertHere in the offices of Flagstaff Cultural Partners, we are obsessed with lists.  We love to rank the things we love (and even the things we don't love so much).  For over a year now, we have done informal staff "Top 5 Lists" of everything from our favorite lunch spots, to music we can't stop playing, to exhibitions we can't wait to see.  These were once in our own little world - a way for us to break up a busy day.  But now, we have decided, for better or worse, to release one of our Top 5 Lists each month in this Newsletter.

So... *gulp* here goes...

The Top 5 "Hot Now" Local Artists
We define this as local artists that are catching our eye right now, or receiving a lot of exposure recently (or should be). Click on each artist to learn more about them.

Jason Bohnert
Jessica Dawn
Sambatuque
Karen McClanahan
Charmagne Coe

How did we get to these five?  What other names made our individual lists?  Click here to read the full article for the Top 5 Hot-Now Artists.
