Duo Caputo Pompilio
Please read message below!
Saturday, March 29
7:00 P.M.

Hi Friends of Guitar!
As you may know, this weekend Grand Canyon Guitar Society will present the final concert of the 2007-08 season, our most successful season yet. We appreciate your attendance and support at these concerts, we couldn't do this without YOU!

I regret to announce that our Italian guitar duo, Duo Caputo-Pompilio encountered difficulties with US Immigration upon arrival in Philadelphia last week. They were turned around and sent home to Italy, due to minor clerical errors in their visa application. The concerts planned in Philly, New York, Florida, and Arizona were canceled. I apologize for not annnouncing this sooner, but I needed to wait until all options had been exhausted.

That is the bad news, here is the good news:

Michael Chapdelaine, International Fingerstyle Champion (1998) and Guitar Foundation of America 1st prize winner (1982) will perform on Saturday evening in the place of Duo Caputo Pompilio. To say that we have an ace up our sleeves may be an understatement, Mr. Chapdelaine is the only guitarist ever to win both of these prizes (one for steel string guitar, the other for nylon string classical guitar). He's quite extraordinary, and I'm sure you'll enjoy him!
He plays a mixture of styles, from Bach to Beatles, Come Together to Recuerdos to Wipe Out! He studied in many classes with Andres Segovia, yet will perform on steel string. His website with videos and audio excerpts is excellent.

He will lead a masterclass on Coconino Community College's LoneTree Campus on Saturday, March 29 from 1-3PM. This class is free and open to the public.

All details of the concert are the same as the duo's concert. His concert will take place at 7:00 PM Saturday March 29 at Coconino Center for the Arts. Tickets are $15 in advance (at Arizona Music Pro, Cedar Music, and Custom Sound Instruments), and $18 Day of Show. All tickets for "Duo Caputo Pompilio" will be honored.

For those who might be disappointed that the duo will not be playing, we will be happy to refund the purchase price of your ticket. We offer our deepest apologies that we will not hear the duo, and will work to present them the next time they plan to be in the US.

Thank you again for your continued support and enthusiasm, and we hope to see you this Saturday at Michael Chapdelaine's class and concert!
Cheers,
Craig
