2010 Viola Award Recipient
Performing Arts
Linda Sutera has been an active member of Theatrikos Theatre Company for more than twenty years. Although involved on many levels, Linda's work at Theatrikos is most notable in the arena of acting, where she has appeared on stage in upwards of thirty roles. Her range of ability is extraordinary - from contemporary to classic, supporting to leading, comedic to dramatic - she has proven herself to be a multi-faceted performer and a local favorite of Theatrikos patrons for over two decades. Memorable performances include Portia from "The Merchant of Venice"; Ouisa from "Six Degrees of Separation"; Toinette from “The Imaginary Invalid"; and Meg from “Crimes of the Heart." Additionally, Linda has directed four shows at Theatrikos, including "It’s a Wonderful Life" and "The Comedy of Errors." She is currently directing "The Merry Wives of Windsor," scheduled to open on February 5.
Linda's commitment to Theatrikos is phenomenal. Over the years, she has given of herself unceasingly, serving on the Board of Directors as both President and as its longest active member. She is currently a member of the Artistic Committee; has organized numerous fundraisers; and has worked backstage in every possible capacity, from stage manager to crew member to usher.
Of the many volunteers that have contributed their time and effort to Theatrikos during its thirty-eight years of activity, Linda Sutera is currently its longest serving member: stellar actress, imaginative director, and theatrical jack of all trades. Because of her outstanding service as a performing artist, I would like to nominate Linda Sutera for the Viola Award in the area of Performing Arts.
